Artist Residency: Sky Stitching by Audrey Bartow
Sundays 10am-12pm beginning June 7th
Join naturalist and botany scholar Audrey Bartow in a celebration of the birds of Lenapehoking.
What does migration sound like? What colors can you hear? We’ll tackle these questions and more on a year-long artist residency at MEEC. Naturalist and environmental artist Audrey Bartow will hold weekly bird listening sessions, open to MEEC visitors, where they’ll document bird observations by knitting their colors into an ever changing tapestry. Visitors are encouraged to sit with the artist while they work, help to observe birds, and check back in as the project progresses. The work will document bird visitation at MEEC over the course of one year, culminating in a reception to unveil the tapestry and discuss findings. Community members are asked to help donate yarn and knitted items to be recycled so that the piece has a low environmental footprint.
